Dean of the Faculty of Zooengineering and Product Processing Technology
The Faculty was initially established in July 1929 as part of the Uzbekistan State Institute of Animal Engineering under the name "Department of Cattle Breeding and Karakul Sheep Farming." In 1931, it was reorganized and renamed the Faculty of Zootechnics. The first cohort graduated in 1935, comprising 18 young specialists, including 13 representatives of Uzbek, Tajik, and Kazakh nationalities, and 5 women. In 1966, the Department of Poultry Science was added to the structure of the Faculty, and a separate Faculty of Karakul Sheep Breeding was established on its basis.
Over the course of its 93-year history, the Faculty of Animal Engineering has trained 25 Doctors of Science, 14 Professors, nearly 80 Candidates of Science, as well as 60 Associate Professors and Senior Lecturers. The faculty departments host postgraduate and doctoral programs, with approximately 60 doctoral students having pursued or currently pursuing their studies. Notably, among the faculty's graduates are 2 Academicians — G.A. Aliyev and Sh.A. Akmalkhanov — and 3 Corresponding Members of Academy — U.N. Nosirov, K.K. Karibayev, and R.G. Valiyev.
To date, the faculty's scholars have published approximately 20 monographs, over 50 textbooks, nearly 70 educational manuals, more than 960 methodological recommendations, over 30 brochures, and more than 6,000 scientific articles. Additionally, 18 certificates of authorship have been obtained. Around 4,000 diploma theses have been successfully defended by students. More than 7,000 students have graduated with qualifications in zootechnics, among whom nearly 600 have been awarded honors diplomas.
In accordance with Presidential Decree No. PQ-3703 of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 8, 2018, “On the Establishment of the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine,” the Samarkand Institute of Agriculture was reorganized into the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine. As part of this restructuring, the Faculty of Zootechnics and Karakul Sheep Breeding was reorganized and renamed the Faculty of Animal Engineering.
Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. PQ-187 of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 31, 2022, “On the Fundamental Improvement of the System of Training Specialists in the Fields of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry,” the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine was reorganized into the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology. As a result of this transformation, the status of the Faculty of Zootechnics within the university was also elevated.
Currently, the Faculty of Zootechnics and Food Processing Technologies enrolls 507 full-time and 400 part-time students. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the number of graduating students is projected to be 172 in the full-time program and 86 in the part-time program.
The faculty actively continues to improve its activities in educational-methodological work, scientific research, spiritual-enlightenment and educational initiatives, as well as providing practical support to the agricultural sector. It remains committed to strengthening the independence of our nation and tirelessly nurturing the younger generation in the spirit of national ideology and patriotism.
The faculty will continue its future activities in strict alignment with the priority areas of the “New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022–2026.”

International Cooperation Relations
The faculty has established international relations and international scientific cooperation. To date, our faculty has established scientific cooperation with the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan and the Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor State Academy of Veterinary Medicine (Republic of Belarus)
.The teaching staff and research associates of the faculty's specialized departments conduct research work with the aim of creating an effective system for training scientific personnel at the university, commercializing and implementing scientific developments in production, organizing student internships, and creating a mechanism for full self-financing.
Scientific potential of the faculty's teaching staff
In 2025, the faculty employs 52 full-time professors and teachers, including 3 professors, 17 associate professors, 7 senior lecturers and 25 associate professors and teachers, who conduct research.
The activities of scientific, scientific and creative circles organized at the departments of our faculty are well organized. The faculty has formed and approved a list of 350 students, and work with students has been organized according to the "Teacher-Student" system.
The faculty has established international relations and international scientific cooperation. Today, our faculty is implementing innovative technologies in the context of modernizing the production technologies of astrakhan products on the topic of "The Importance of Intergroup Testing in Improving the Productivity of Bukhara Breed Group Sheep" in OOO "A.Temur", Zhondorsky District, Bukhara Region. Kashkadarya branch of the Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Poultry Farming in the city of Karshi, Kashkadarya region. Ikrom Makhmudov farm, Gallaorol district, Jizzakh region.
