Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnologies is a higher educational institution established to organize a system of training professional personnel in the field of veterinary medicine and biotechnology, as well as to implement the republic's initiatives in the field of scientific research and practical work.
Samarkand Agricultural Institute is a higher educational institution that trains specialists in the agricultural sector, founded in 1929 on the basis of the Uzbek State Cotton Institute and the Uzbek Institute of Zooveterinary Medicine. Since 1933, it has been the Uzbek Agricultural Institute, and since 1961, it has had its current name. The institute includes (2004): agronomy, engineering, veterinary medicine, zootechnics, karakul breeding, economics, vocational training departments and a master's degree department, and about 40 departments.
The Republican Boarding School has been operating since 1995 (222 students were educated in 2004). The Institute has a special vivarium, field plots, an experimental farm, a microfarm for poultry farming, a veterinary clinic, a special museum of world karakul skin samples, an institute museum, and a scientific library (over 530 thousand works).
In the 2003/04 academic year, 3,768 students studied at the Institute in agronomy, breeding, agrochemistry and soil science, fruit and vegetable growing, viticulture, karakul farming, veterinary medicine, zootechnics, accounting, economics, mechanical engineering, leather and fur technology, and other specialties, and 283 teachers worked, including 31 doctors of science and professors, 155 associate professors and candidates of science. Since its establishment, the Institute has trained more than 30 thousand specialists.
There are 2 specialized scientific councils for postgraduate studies and dissertation defense. It has its own printing house. It publishes textbooks, study guides and "Collections of Scientific Works".
Established on May 8, 2018 in accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine.

CHARTER OF THE Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnologies
I.General Provisions
Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnologies (hereinafter referred to as the “University”) is subordinate to the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 31, 2022 No. PQ No. 187 “On the radical improvement of the system of personnel training in the field of veterinary and animal husbandry”.
In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-187 dated March 31, 2022, the University is a basic higher educational institution that trains personnel in the areas of veterinary medicine, veterinary sanitary examination, veterinary diagnostics and laboratory work, veterinary pharmacy, zooengineering, veterinary biotechnology, and livestock product processing technology.
The University operates within the system of the State Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry.
The University is a state higher educational institution and is engaged in educational activities in the implementation of basic and additional educational programs of higher education. It carries out educational, pedagogical, scientific, methodological and other activities and provides educational services in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In its activities, the University is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Law "On Education", the National Program for Personnel Training, resolutions of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, decrees, resolutions and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, regulatory legal acts of the State Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, and this Charter.
The University is a legal entity. It has its own special property under its operational management and is responsible for its obligations under this property, may acquire property on its own behalf and exercise property and non-property rights, assume obligations, and be a plaintiff and defendant in court.
It has an independent balance sheet, settlement and other accounts in banking institutions, including currency accounts, a seal with the image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its name, stamps and other requisites.

II. Main tasks of the university
The main tasks of the university are: training of highly educated personnel for the branches of veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, biotechnology, agrotechnology,
agroeconomics;
Formation of a modern educational and scientific-laboratory base, equipping it with advanced technological equipment and expanding scientific-innovative research aimed at developing the industry;
to direct the educational process to the formation of practical skills, to widely introduce advanced pedagogical technologies, curricula and innovative teaching and methodological materials based on international educational standards, to create the necessary conditions for ensuring the harmony of theoretical knowledge and practice in veterinary clinics, educational and scientific laboratories, educational experimental farms, production and processing enterprises;
to create a system of continuous education for the training, retraining and advanced training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel;
to introduce joint educational programs and scientific projects with leading foreign higher educational institutions, to conduct research and development of the University's faculty
STUDENT RESIDENCES
Today, the university has 2 student dormitories. Student dormitory No. 1 has 450 beds, Student dormitory No. 2 has 400 beds, a total of 850 beds. All conditions have been created for students studying at the university in these dormitories and these places have been brought up to the level of modern requirements. University library branches have been established in the dormitories, enriched with more than 4,000 relevant literature. All students living in the dormitories are members of these libraries.
To improve the living conditions of students and their cultural recreation, refrigerators and televisions have been installed on each floor of the dormitories, and all rooms have been provided with new soft and hard furniture. A modern heating system has been installed in order to provide the dormitories with regular heat.
There are showers and laundry rooms for students on all floors. Modern washing machines have been installed on the floors, and gas stoves have been installed in the kitchens. In the dormitories, students have access to the latest computer classes for their lessons, connected to WI-FI and the Internet. In order for students to spend their extracurricular time meaningfully and conduct spiritual and educational activities, each dormitory has a separate “Spiritual Room”, 5 clubs and circles dedicated to important initiatives.
In the spiritual rooms of the dormitories, events and round tables on various topics are held by the university youth work department, the spirituality and education department, the primary organization of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, the Women's Advisory Council, faculties and departments.
