Department of Veterinary Surgery and obstetrics

    The department was established in 1929 as the Department of Veterinary Surgery within the Samarkand Agricultural Institute. Over its development stages, it underwent several transformations: from 1989 to 2004, it functioned as the “Surgery and Pharmacology” department; from 2004 to 2017, it was known as the “Anatomy, Physiology, Surgery, and Pharmacology of Animals” department; from 2017 to 2018, it operated as the “Veterinary Surgery, Pharmacology, and Toxicology” department. In 2018, as part of the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine, it was renamed the “Department of Veterinary Surgery and Obstetrics,” and since 2022, it has been operating under the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, and Biotechnology.

    Since its establishment, the department has been home to prominent specialists such as S.V. Timofeev, A.K. Malyukov, S.N. Vakhidov, Ye. Guliyans, V.A. Polyakov, Kh.K. Rustamov, Ya.O. Okbutaev, N.Sh. Davlatov, A.S. Suleymanov, N.G. Khamidov, and I.S. Zolotov.

    Currently, the department is headed by Professor B.D. Narziyev. The faculty includes Professors B.M. Eshburiev, H.B. Niyozov, R.M. Tashtemirov, and B.D. Narziyev; Associate Professors S.M. Djumanov and J.B. Yulchiev; Senior Lecturer S.B. Abdiev; Assistants X.X. Eshquvatov, S.A. Haydarova, M.A. Ravshanov, B.S. Alimov, B.T. Sidiqov, A.G. Jabborov, and Q.M. Baxriddinov; Laboratory Head N.S. Abdukarimova; and Laboratory Assistant M.A. Xaknazarova.

    Currently, the department provides lecture, practical, and laboratory training in three undergraduate programs and four master's degree specializations.
