The department was established in 2019 as the Department of Veterinary-Sanitary Expertise and Hygiene within the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2022, it has been functioning as the Department of Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise and is part of the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology.
Currently, the department employs 10 teaching staff members. These include 1 Doctor of Sciences (DSc), 3 Candidates of Sciences, 1 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Veterinary Sciences, and 5 assistants without academic degrees. The department has 5 classrooms and 1 training laboratory, all equipped with new modern computer technology.
At present, the department is responsible for the educational direction of the Faculty of "Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise." The department conducts research activities for master's students in 2 specialties: "Veterinary Sanitation" and "Veterinary Control and Public Health Protection in Emergency Situations." Several doctoral students are also undergoing training.
