I can say that every citizen living in this ancient city is rightly proud of living on this land and being a citizen of this country.  Samarkand's soil is golden, its water is healing, and its air is medicinal.  This holy land has also provided many great geniuses to Human civilization.
 On October 18, 1996, during the celebrations of the 660th anniversary of the birth of the founder Amir Temur, the city of Samarkand was awarded the Order of "Amir Temur" and October 18 was designated as the city day of Samarkand.  Since then, this day has been widely celebrated in the region for a quarter of a century
The ancient and ever-popular city of Samarkand is known as a legendary city in different countries of the planet with its unique oriental appearance, rich history, and unique monuments that amaze everyone.  It has become the jewel of the East with the name "Eternal City", which stands alongside Rome, and is one of the 50 cities that must be visited by the people of the world today.
Samarkand, which has a history of three thousand years, has long been recognized as a center of science, trade and crafts, as well as one of the major centers of world civilization.  These age-old traditions are continued today;
The 25th session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was held these days in the tourist complex "Silk Road Samarkand" (The Eternal City) in the city of Samarkand.
Within the framework of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a declaration on granting the status of "International Capital of Cultural Tourism" to the city of Samarkand and an agreement on the establishment of the International Tourism Academy were adopted.
Our president Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally participated in this prestigious international event, and important documents aimed at further expanding cooperation with the World Tourism Organization were signed in the presence of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Global Investment Forum and Exhibition was held as part of the 25th session, and it is noteworthy that discussions at the level of ministers and heads of international financial institutions, 5 panel sessions and 22 presentations were held at the forum.
During the forum, the tourism-investment potential of 14 regions of Uzbekistan, 3 tourist-recreational zones (Zomin, Chorvoq, Chimyon), Central Asian countries, as well as 4 start-up projects (Japan, Czech Republic, France and Brazil) were presented.
So it can be said that our city, along with being a center of science and culture on the Great Silk Road, is currently becoming a center of tourism and a capital of cultural tourism.
