An open dialogue meeting was held at the "Palace of Culture" of the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, with the participation of the university and its branches, technical school and academic lyceum teams, by the rector of the university, Professor Yunusov Khudaynazar Beknazarovich, on the state of preparation for the new 2024-2025 academic year and prospective plans to be implemented.
At the meeting, the rector of the university expressed his views on the content and purpose of the state policy on youth in our country, expressed his views on the state of preparation for the new academic year and prospective plans to be implemented.
It was noted that for the 2024-2025 academic year, 401 applicants for full-time undergraduate studies were accepted to the university on a state grant, 768 on a fee-based contract basis, and 13 applicants for part-time studies were recommended to study on a state grant, 652 on a fee-based contract basis. Also, new directions of "Food Technology" and "Management" were opened at the university from this academic year.
In preparation for the academic year, classrooms, ICT equipment, laboratories, practical training and seminar rooms, and vivariums were inventoried and brought into working condition. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 3703 dated May 8, 2018, the main academic building of the university with 1,310 seats was completely renovated. The building has 175 classrooms, an information resource center with 150 seats, a hall for activists with 450 seats, and an indoor sports complex with 420 seats.
The university has student dormitories with 400 and 450 seats. Two more dormitories are about to be commissioned this year. If they are also put into operation, the student dormitories will have about 1,300 seats. Student dormitories are also being built on the basis of public-private partnerships. As a result, the need for student housing will be covered by 40-50%. Also, a "Registration Office" will be opened at the university starting from the new academic year.
12 modern laboratories in the field of veterinary medicine, animal husbandry and biotechnology provided by the World Bank on the territory of the university were inventoried and prepared for the new academic year. The Islamic Development Bank provided additional equipment to the laboratories of chemistry, agricultural product storage and processing technology and put them into operation. In order to improve the quality of education during the educational process, a mobile veterinary service in Veterinary Medicine, veterinary telemedicine, a veterinary vivarium were created to monitor diagnostics, treatment, surgical procedures, and online monitoring of procedures in the auditoriums and branches.
Then, the vice-rectors of the university spoke about the achievements achieved in their areas, preparations for this academic year, and plans. Also, the meeting heard opinions on the work carried out in the branches of the university, technical school and academic lyceum in preparation for the new academic year, and future plans. During the conversation, it was emphasized that the university rector should pay serious attention to providing students with housing, provide information about the opportunities provided, such as the admission of students graduating from technical schools to the university based on an interview, and that leaders should work individually with each employee and student.
During the meeting, which was held in an open and communicative manner, the questions asked were answered in detail by the officials, and appropriate instructions were given on the problems awaiting resolution.
