The international scientific and practical conference of the Department of "Plant Science and Forage Crop Production" on the topic "Problems in Forage Crop Production, Their Solutions and Future Tasks" has begun at the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology on March 14-15, 2024.
Opening the conference, the rector of the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, Professor Kh. Yunusov, noted that there are still scientific and practical studies in our republic on increasing feed production, storing and processing feed, and effectively using the potential of existing feed crops, and there are problems with their implementation, and there is a need for research to be carried out on providing livestock with high-quality, sufficient feed that meets zootechnical requirements. He noted that our scientists working in the field of forage production are currently conducting scientific research on the selection of feed crops that are resistant to salinity, drought, and water shortage, and the development of their resource-saving technologies, and that work has begun on the selection of drought-resistant varieties to prevent desertification in natural pastures and desert regions, and the organization of primary seed production of desert feed crops.
It was also noted that currently, in addition to conducting scientific research on feed production and improving feed quality at the university, more than 8 textbooks, 12 study guides, and many methodological guidelines have been prepared and published in accordance with the requirements of the time for undergraduate and graduate students in this area, and the results of completed scientific research are being published in the form of monographs, recommendations, and brochures. At the same time, many articles by professors, doctoral candidates, masters, and talented students are currently being published at the university in journals in the Scopus group and Web of Science journals.
Also, A. Safarov, Head of the Department of the Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and others, who participated in the conference online, expressed their opinions on the topic.
