A modern scientific laboratory named after Nobel laureate Aziz Sanjar was opened at the Faculty of Chemistry of Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov
The Uzbek youth is very greedy and thirsty for knowledge - we have heard praise about this many times from foreign professors and teachers, foreigners in general. This recognition is a great honor for all teachers. Today, opportunities and conditions may not be what they would like, but our government, our President personally, is trying to create the best conditions and opportunities for them.
Recently, watching young people, my thoughts have become even stronger, some of them have a great craving for science, curiosity, high respect for representatives of science, which suggests that great scientists and researchers will come out of our country in the near future. These will be scientists from Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Laureates of the international Nobel Prize do not always come to our country, and even more so to ancient and modern Samarkand. Recently, such a wonderful, historic event took place in our city.
We took part in the opening ceremony of a modern scientific laboratory named after Nobel Prize winner Aziz Sanjar at the Faculty of Chemistry of Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov.
Professor Aziz Sanjar personally took part in this ceremony and was a dear guest of Samarkand for several days.
Prof. Aziz Sanjar, originally from Turkey, is a well-known, internationally renowned and recognized biochemist based in the USA and doing research at the University of North Carolina. Over the past 15-20 years, the scientist has developed biochemical mechanisms for the restoration of the DNA system of a cell affected by cancer, one of the most serious diseases of the modern world, and for this important research he was awarded the International Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2015.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Ibragim Abdurakhmanov, rectors and professors of dozens of higher educational institutions. At Samarkand State University, the Nobel laureate gave a lecture on the topic "Innovative methods of treating brain cancer" for young scientists, students and teachers.
The biochemistry laboratory is equipped with about 10 modern equipment manufactured in such countries as Russia, Japan, and the USA. This equipment will be able to carry out scientific analysis and experiments in a number of important areas, such as organic and inorganic materials, chemical research of substances and the synthesis of complex compounds, the study of the properties of nanomaterials, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the composition of substances, identification of biologically active compounds. The laboratory of modern methods of analysis is multidisciplinary, simultaneously conducting high-precision scientific research in the fields of chemistry, biology, pharmaceuticals, medicine, food industry, perfumery, materials science, biological research, environmental protection, mining, petrochemicals, agriculture allows you to transfer. It would not be an exaggeration to say that at present chemistry is of great importance in the national economy, and there is no such branch of science, production, industry, animal husbandry, etc., where chemistry is not applied. For example, in agriculture, mineral fertilizers and chemical preparations are widely used to control pests and plant diseases, weeds, etc. We cannot compete with developed countries in the field of chemical technology. But now our country pays attention to chemical technologies and science, I think that in the near future we hope to become one of the leading countries in this regard. If we want to reach the heights of science, it is necessary to equip our laboratories with modern high-precision equipment. Some (but not all) of this laboratory equipment is provided as financial assistance to higher education institutions participating in the Islamic Development Bank. Today, with the support of this bank, the material and technical base of 25 universities of our country has been enriched. I must say that it was a great and important event not only on the scale of Samarkand State University, not even on the scale of Samarkand, but the science of our entire country. It will be possible to carry out important scientific work with the help of modern laboratories.
In addition, a student is a good opportunity for young people, for our knowledge-hungry boys and girls. The scientific laboratory, equipped with 8 types of modern equipment, has the ability to conduct research in the field of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, food industry, biological research, mining. In addition, molecular biotechnologies and the foundations of modern botany, as well as vivarium scientific laboratories, biophysiological, biochemical research are also an excellent opportunity for young people interested in this field.
It can be said that communication with the international Nobel Prize winner gave great motivation to young people - students, masters, doctoral students and others. You could feel it in their faces and in the questions and answers that were taking place. The first day was an official event and the second day was a day of fellowship. A well-known scientist gave practical advice on the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer. Students got acquainted with the successful experience and scientific achievements of foreign countries, especially the United States of America, in this disease. The fact that Aziz Sanjar personally participated in the opening ceremony of the laboratory of modern analytical methods means that close scientific cooperation with the scientist will continue in the future. It is proved that without the development of science there will be no development in the country. Everyone is pleased that today the scientific laboratory conducts not only field research, but also an analysis of research objects for medicine, environmental protection, the identification of harmful substances in food, industry and other industries. We hope that the sphere of science will be highly developed in the new Uzbekistan and our country will be recognized as the center of new discoveries. The reforms carried out in the field of science will certainly make it possible to do this.
