DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL AND HUMANITARIAN SCIENCES, PHYSICAL CULTURE AND SPORT

The Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, Physical Culture and Sports was established in 2018.

     The department was established on the basis of several departments, and since 1929, the first rector of the institute, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor V.V. Makaveyev, gave lectures to students on philosophy. V.V. Makaveyev, along with his duties as rector of the institute, also headed the Department of Philosophy. Later, professors, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan I.M. Muminov, A.D. Rodschild and A.Kh. Mozitov gave lectures on philosophy at the department.

During this period, the department was called the Department of “Socio-Economic Sciences”. In 1965, the Department of “Philosophy” was established as an independent department.

     The Department of “Philosophy” was headed by Associate Professor M.M. Akhmedov for many years. Later, the name of the department changed several times and was renamed "Philosophy and Scientific Communism", "Social Sciences", "Philosophy and Political Science". In 1987, the three departments of social and political sciences operating at the institute were merged and transformed into a single "Social Sciences" department. The department also operated as the former "Political Economy and Party History" department, and was initially headed by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor N.A. Aberkulov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A. Abdusattorov. This team included candidates of historical sciences, associate professors H.I. Isayev, S.S. Sobirov, P.N. Shmatkov, A.R. Ro'zimurodov, I. Zhumanov, N. Ahmedov, S. Yahyoyev.

In 1996, two departments were established on the basis of the Department of Social Sciences: “Economic Theory and History of Uzbekistan” and “Philosophy and Political Science”.

In 2000, the Department of “Pedagogy, Psychology and Teaching Methods” was established, headed by candidates of pedagogical sciences N.Khamrayev and E.Nasimov.

In different years, famous scientists of our country I.M.Mo’minov, A.M.Aminov, A.G.Svetlichny, A.Usmonov, S.Akhtamov, S.A.Sodikov, N.Naimov, Sh.Sulaymonnov, A.D.Rodschild, O.E.Qodirkulov, M.Mallayev, A.G’.G’oipov, Q.Ya.Yarboboyev, Kh.Kh.Siddikov, R.Mamadiev, E.Khadzhiyev, T.Saidkulov worked in these departments.

The Department of “Economic Theory and History of Uzbekistan” was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor T.Haitov until 1997. In the following years, S.Nazarov, Kh.Normurodov, O.Turgunboyev worked as heads of the department.

The Department of “Philosophy and Law” was headed by Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor T.Sattorov until 1997. In the following years, the Department was headed by Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor J.Bakhronov, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor A.Gaybullayev, and Candidate of Law T.Jabborov.

In scientific and methodological areas, the Department has maintained strong ties with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent Pedagogical University, the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State University, Tashkent State Agrarian University, and Samarkand State University of Architecture and Construction.

In October 2004, the departments of “Philosophy and Law” and “History and Theory of Development of Uzbekistan” were merged to form the “Humanities” department. Candidate of Philosophy L. Jamolov was elected as the head of the department and headed the department until 2020.

Currently, the department is headed by Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pedagogical Sciences Narziyeva Nargiza Norkuziyevna.

     The department team makes a significant contribution to the socio-political life of the university, to the implementation of spiritual-enlightenment, political-educational work among students and staff. The department team carries out its activities based on the plan for the academic year, continuously analyzes the state of educational, educational-methodical, scientific-research work, spiritual-enlightenment and educational work at department meetings, and actively participates in events aimed at improving work in this area.
