NAVROZ – A SYMBOL OF THE AWAKENING OF SPRING AND NATURE
Navruz also showcases the historical unity of our people with the nations of neighboring countries. This holiday is considered international for two reasons. First, it has been celebrated for over four thousand years as the festival of welcoming spring in Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, the Caucasus, and other nations in this vast region. Second, in 2009, Navruz was included in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring March 21 as International Navruz Day.
