October 18 - Samarkand City Day!
On the occasion of the 660th anniversary of the founder Amir Temur's birth, in 1996, a salubrious statue was erected in honor of the great general in this ancient city. In the same year, on October 18, at the opening ceremony of this monument and at the ceremony of handing over the first Order of Amir Temur to the city of Samarkand, the original son of this country, the First President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, proposed to celebrate this date as the city day of Samarkand from now on. Based on this initiative, the people of Samarkand have been celebrating October 18 with a big celebration for 27 years Professors-teachers and students of the Samarkand State Veterinary Medicine University of Livestock and Biotechnologies are taking part in this ceremony today with the participation of the general public and are celebrating in a high spirit.
