The department was founded in 2024 as part of the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, by combining the departments of Private Animal Science and Pasture Animal Husbandry.

Although the department was organized recently, it has a long history. Over the years, professors Rakhimov A.A., Yusupov S.Yu., Turakulov Z.T., Maksudov I.M., Amirov Sh.K. and others worked at the department. Professors Kholmirzaev D.Kh., Bazarov S.R. made a great contribution to the development of the department.

Also, Saliev V.Kh., Rizaev Sh.M., Ruzimuratov R.Kh., Ismailov A.I., Shaptakov S.E., Mamatov S.M., Rakhimov A.A., Khashimov I.K., Zahidov Kh.Z, Yarbekov M.Ya., Biserova N.I., Salimbaev S., Narzullaev N.N., Abdurasulov A., made their contribution to the development of the department. Ibragimov Yu, Alimardonov A, Zhuraev Zh.Zh, Chutbaev M, Sogomonov A, Nurmukhamedov, Mamatkulov O, Uralov K, Rakhmonov L.K and others.

Currently there are 19 teachers working at the department. Of these, 1 academician, 2 professor, 6 associate professors, 2 senior teachers, candidates of science, 3 assistants, candidates of science and 5 assistants. The department has 1 museum, 2 laboratories, 8 classrooms.
