DECEMBER 9 - THE OPEN DOOR DAY EVENT CONTINUES IN CONNECTION WITH THE "INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION CUP"

Within the framework of the “Anti-Corruption Month” dedicated to “December 9 - International Anti-Corruption Day”, approved by the minutes of the meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 10 dated August 23, 2023, a report was heard by F. Turayev, Head of the Department for Managing the “Compliance-Control” System for Combating Corruption, on the work being carried out at the university to raise awareness among university professors, teachers, students and youth about the fight against corruption and to form a culture of intolerance against corruption.

“For Uzbekistan, which is entering a new stage of development, any form of corruption is dangerous as it weakens the momentum of reforms. That is why the very first document that the head of our state signed as President upon assuming office was the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Combating Corruption,” says the rector of the university, Kh. Yunusov.

In order to ensure the effective implementation of the adopted legal norms and timely and high-quality implementation of measures to prevent corruption in all spheres of society and state life, the “State Program for Combating Corruption for 2017-2018” was adopted by the President’s resolution of February 2, 2017. A number of draft laws were developed within the framework of the program, and an inventory of existing ones was conducted. In general, an analysis of the work done in recent years shows that systematic measures have been taken to increase the legal awareness and legal culture of the population, and to form an intolerant attitude towards corruption in society.

As part of the implementation of the reforms, mechanisms for protecting the rights and interests of citizens, ensuring the openness of the activities of state authorities and administration, public and parliamentary control were improved, as well as the legal framework for the activities of law enforcement and judicial bodies was reformed. Experts expressed their opinions on the implementation of these laws during their activities.

At the end of the event, an essay competition on the theme “We fight corruption together” was held at the educational institution within the framework of the “International Anti-Corruption Day”, a video competition on the theme “We are young people against corruption”. A competition for the best posters on the theme “Corruption is a development driver”. The “We are young people against corruption” intellectual game and the university championship in the sports “Table Tennis” and “Chess” were held. Students who actively participated in these competitions and took honorable places were awarded certificates of honor and souvenirs.
