The department is one of the oldest departments of the institute, founded in 1929. Over the years, prominent professors and teachers have worked in the department.
The Department of Animal Genetics, Selection, Breeding and Reproduction was established in 2021 in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 3775 dated June 5, 2018 “On improving the quality of education in higher education institutions and ensuring their active participation in comprehensive reforms being implemented in the country” and Resolution No. 187 dated March 31, 2022 “On radically improving the system of personnel training in the field of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry”. A total of 16 professors and teachers work in the department, including 4 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, 1 professor, 6 PhDs, 3 assistants, and 1 head of the office.
The department provides lectures, practical and laboratory classes in the following subjects: 60811500-Zooengineering (by species), 60811500-Zooengineering (Karakol breeding), 60710200-Biotechnology (by industry), Veterinary medicine (by type of activity), 70811503- breeding of agricultural animals and their selection (by animal species), 70811505-Breeding, which are taught by qualified professors and teachers who know their field well. The department has created all the conditions for training bachelors and masters based on modern pedagogical technologies. Students' theoretical knowledge is inextricably linked with practice, including bilateral agreements with the farms specializing in cattle breeding "Abdurahim Ota Chorva", "Obodonchilik", "Abduqaxxor Agro-servis" in Tayloq district, and "Mulla Qishloq Nasl Chorva" in Urgut district.
In addition, with the participation of professors and teachers of the department, practical cooperation has been established with the cluster farms "Siyob Shavkvt Orzu, PURE MILKY PRODVCTS", and currently students are conducting pre-graduation practical training there, and scientific experiments are being carried out by masters, and contracts have been signed. Training and qualification practices are being conducted on the basis of contracts. Professors Baymaji Yerlik Baymajiul and Kadyken Rizabek from the Kazakhstan National Agrarian Scientific Research University of the Republic of Kazakhstan are teaching. The department has established training of masters in the following specializations: 70811503- breeding of agricultural animals and their selection (by animal species), 70811505-Breeding.
